Choosing 600mm, 800mm and 1000mm Parquet Panels

Compare parquet panel sizes by drawing all three options over the same visible floor area. A 600 mm square repeats more often, a 1000 mm square gives each motif more room, and an 800 mm square offers an intermediate scale. The better choice is the one that leaves the pattern readable from the main entrance and gives you a perimeter layout you can approve. Check thickness separately: the series reference lists the 600 mm panel at 15/3 mm and the 800 and 1000 mm panels at 15/4 mm.

Compare the Three Parquet Panel Sizes

A framed pattern such as Versailles makes the difference in scale easy to see. Each square contributes both an internal motif and a line around its edge. Changing the panel size changes how often those lines repeat across the room. Compare the same pattern and color direction at each scale so the size remains the main difference you are judging.

Square panel sizeTotal thickness / oak face thicknessWhen to shortlist itWhat to check on the plan
600 × 600 mm15 / 3 mmA compact entry or defined zone where you want several pattern repeats to remain visible.Whether the closer spacing of the frames makes the floor look busier than intended.
800 × 800 mm15 / 4 mmA room where you want a clear square motif without the wider spacing of a 1000 mm grid.Whether the frame lines fall in useful places at doorways, furniture edges, and transitions.
1000 × 1000 mm15 / 4 mmAn open area with enough unobstructed floor to show the larger motif.Whether walls, fixed furniture, or openings leave too few complete squares in the main view.

These are series reference configurations for multilayer engineered European oak parquet. Confirm which configuration applies to the selected design before ordering.

Test the Grid Against the Space People Will See

Use the visible floor area as your starting point. A hotel lounge may look large on a plan, but seating, rugs, and a reception desk can leave only a few clear stretches of floor. A smaller grid may show more complete motifs in those stretches. In an open residential room or showroom, a larger grid may suit the design if the main sightline gives several panels room to read together. Neither choice implies a higher grade or a better product.

Compare two starting positions for each shortlisted size: one centered on the main opening and one centered on the largest visible area. A simple example shows why. Across a straight 2400 mm zone, four nominal 600 mm panels or three nominal 800 mm panels fit across the width on paper. A centered 1000 mm grid could show two full panels with a nominal 200 mm portion at each side. That may suit a design with a quiet perimeter, or it may interrupt the framed motif. This is a drawing exercise; use verified site dimensions and the agreed edge details for the final layout.

Write Panel Size and Thickness as Separate Fields

On the purchase specification, give the panel length and width, total thickness, and oak face thickness their own fields. 15/3 mm means 15 mm total thickness with a 3 mm oak face. 15/4 mm means 15 mm total thickness with a 4 mm oak face. Both have a 15 mm total thickness in the listed configurations. A line that says only “15 mm parquet” leaves out a distinction the buyer may need to confirm.

If the project calls for a different size, submit the marked plan and target dimensions, then ask the supplier to confirm the proposed configuration. Check the grade, color, and finish against that exact configuration. The European oak engineered Versailles parquet flooring is a useful reference for reviewing the framed design; confirm the size and finish combination for the pictured product in writing. Where parquet meets a stair landing, mark the last full panel and the transition line on the drawing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a 1000 mm panel the best choice for a large room?

Choose it if the main view shows enough complete motifs and the perimeter cuts work with the design. If furniture divides the visible floor into smaller areas, compare an 800 or 600 mm layout before deciding.

Can I compare sizes without three full-size samples?

Yes. Shortlist sizes using three grids drawn at the same scale on one floor plan. Then review a physical sample of the selected design and configuration for color, grain, and finish.

Does 15/4 mm mean the panel is 4 mm thicker than a 15/3 mm panel?

No. Both listed configurations are 15 mm thick overall. The oak face is 4 mm on the 15/4 mm configuration and 3 mm on the 15/3 mm configuration.

What should I send when requesting a size review?

Send the plan or room dimensions, estimated area, shortlisted panel sizes, and any color or finish references. Mark key doorways, borders, and transitions so the supplier can see where the pattern needs to end.

Discuss the panel size for your project. Share your company name, project type or target market, estimated quantity, and preferred size or color. Include a marked plan if available so the discussion can start with the part of the floor where scale or perimeter cuts matter most.
